Ever heard of Rods?(aka Sky fish I believe)?
Apparently there are tiny rod shaped fish or insect things that fly past cameras all the time. Most people think they are just bugs flying real fast, but eh, who knows?
I’m pretty sure they are just insects, as rod-like effects can be reproduced in experiments with flying insects. The experiment is described on the Wikipedia article on rods, researchers attempted to catch them with nets and found that they were merely moths and other insects. Another experiment would be to try to take pictures of rods with more than one camera, and the two cameras have different shutter speeds. The rods in the photos from the slower camera would be longer. Sorry to burst your bubble!
